Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies & Ministry
Formed by the Word. Called to Serve.
A Program Rooted in Scripture
The Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies & Ministry prepares students to engage Scripture with depth, humility, and faith. Offered through the Shepherd’s Gate Campus (Virginia) with full online delivery, this program unites theological understanding with spiritual formation and ministry practice. Students study the Bible not as an academic text alone—but as the living Word that renews mind and transforms life.
Courses in theology, biblical interpretation, languages, and history invite students into a lifelong conversation with God’s Word. Through close reading and faithful exegesis, students learn to discern truth, proclaim the gospel, and shepherd others in wisdom.
Choose Your Path of Biblical Study
Every calling begins with the same foundation—Scripture as truth, history as context, and the Church as God’s vessel of redemption. From this shared core, Aletheia students specialize in one of four emphases that integrate deep exegesis with practical ministry.
Old Testament Emphasis
Uncover the covenantal story of redemption through ancient texts, languages, and the wisdom literature of Israel. Students explore Hebrew, wisdom and prophetic books, and the theology of covenant faithfulness. Sample Courses: Hebrew I–II, Wisdom Literature, Old Testament Textual Analysis & Exegesis, Ancient Near Eastern History
New Testament Emphasis
Study the life of Christ, the early Church, and apostolic teaching in their original Greek and historical context. This track equips students to interpret Scripture and teach with accuracy and conviction. Sample Courses: Acts, Church History II, Greek I–II, New Testament Exegesis, The Epistles of Paul
Missions Emphasis
For those called to cross-cultural ministry, this emphasis integrates theology, linguistics, and global awareness. Students develop the heart and skill to proclaim the gospel faithfully in every context. Sample Courses: World Religions, History of Missions, Introduction to TESL, Missions & Revival, Language and Society
Pastoral Ministry Emphasis
The Pastoral track forms shepherd-leaders rooted in Scripture and equipped for preaching, counseling, and discipleship. Academic study and practicum training combine to cultivate both theological depth and pastoral care. Sample Courses: Ekklesiatics, Poimenics I–II, Homiletics & Kairotics, Spiritual Formation in Biblical Life & Ministry, Pastoral Ministry Practicum
From Study to Service
Each emphasis includes practicum experiences in ministry, missions, or camp leadership. Students serve in churches, schools, or community ministries while completing supervised reflection assignments that connect biblical truth with lived obedience.
The rhythm of study → practice → reflection is built into the 10-4-1 cycle, ensuring that classroom learning flows naturally into service and worship.
Example Practicum Experiences:
Camp Ministry (Years 1–4); Youth or Pastoral Ministry Practicum; Missions Engagement Project; Theological Reflection Journal
Program Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies & Ministry requires approximately 120 credit hours, including:
41 credits in General Studies (biblical core, language arts, math, and sciences)
45–50 credits in Biblical Studies & Ministry courses
Electives and practicum credits tailored to each emphasis
All courses are available online through Aletheia’s Shepherd’s Gate Campus (VA), allowing students worldwide to participate in the same integrated model of theological and practical formation.
Every Aletheia student lives within the 10-4-1 rhythm—ten weeks of guided instruction, four weeks of practicum or ministry engagement, and one week of community retreat. This rhythm mirrors the biblical pattern of labor and rest, reflection and renewal, ensuring that study becomes discipleship.
