Statement of Faith

Truth as the Foundation of Formation

Those basic beliefs to which this college is dedicated are stated as follows.

We believe:

The Scriptures — The Word of God as Final Authority

The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, to be the divinely inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of mankind and the Divine and final authority for Christian life and faith (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20, 21).

That there is one God, Creator of the Universe, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, whose invisible attributes, eternal power and divine nature are seen in creation so that mankind is without excuse for not honoring God (Jn. 1:3; Gen. 1:1; Rom. 1:20, 21).

That Jesus Christ existed in the beginning with the Father, was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, buried, and was raised from the tomb, and ascended to the right hand of God, where He is our high priest (Jn. 1:1; Luke 1:35; Rom. 1:4; Heb. 4:14-5:10).

That Jesus Christ the Son of God explains, shows, speaks for, radiates and represents God the Father (Jn. 1:18; 14:9; Heb.1:1-3).

That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Jesus Christ and, during this age, to convict men and regenerate, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the repentant believer for godly living, internalizing God’s kingdom (Eze. 36:27; Heb.10:16; Jn. 3:23-24 and 16:7-14; Eph. 3:14-19; 1 Cor. 3:16; 1).

That man was created in the image and likeness of God to fill the earth and rule over it. The creation of mankind was good, plentiful and innocent. Man rebelled against God and lost his original innocence, access to eternal life, and the immediate presence of God. Consequently, death spread to all men, because all sinned. All creation fell under a curse to await the redemption by the seed of the woman (Gen. 1:26-28; Gen. 2; Gen. 3:22-24; Rom. 5:12; Gen. 3:14-19).

That all mankind is morally responsible to not resist the Holy Spirit, to choose life, make themselves a new heart, obey God’s call, turn from sin and believe (Deut. 30:19; Eph. 1:13; Ez. 18:31; Jn. 16:8-13).

That Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection demonstrate God’s righteousness and provide the grounds for justification and salvation for all mankind. Whoever hears the gospel of truth and repents and believes in Him, to them the Holy Spirit gives the power to become, and witnesses with their spirits that they are, children of God (Jn. 1:12; Rom. 5:9-10; 8:16; Eph. 1:13-14).

That the true church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the Head and Chief Shepherd (Eph. 1:13; Jn. 10:11; 1 Cor.12:12-27; Eph. 5:23; Col. 1:18).

That Jesus will come in the same way he was taken up, so shall we always be with the Lord. Since that day will come like a thief in the night when Jesus will reign for a thousand years, we should live in holiness and godliness, showing evidence of God’s Spirit at work in our lives (Acts 1:11; 1 Thess. 4:17; 5:2; Rev. 20:4; 2 Pet. 3:10-12).

In the resurrection of the dead: the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord Jesus Christ and the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious torment (Matt.13:49-50; 25:46; Rev. 20:13-15).

That God is involved providentially in the history of nations determining their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation so that they might seek Him, and that He rewards those who seek Him (Acts 17:25-27; Heb. 11:6; 2 Chron. 16:9; 15:12-15).

These truths define the foundation of Aletheia Christian College. We confess them with gratitude and conviction, seeking to form minds and hearts wholly devoted to Christ, who is “the way, the truth, and the life.”
